On May 3, the CCJC hosted an evening of celebration in honour of Lorraine Berzins who retires from the Church Council after more than 25 years of dedicated service.
Tributes to Lorraine credited her as a courageous advocate and prophetic voice, one who has consistently spoken truth to power, challenged the adversarial model of the criminal justice system, and who bears witness to the conviction that we can do better if we put people and their needs at the centre of the justice equation.
Her contribution to CCJC and to the Canadian justice dialogue has been immense.
