This notice board recognises the work and dedication of Maristela Carrara to the Church Council on Justice and Corrections. As you know Maristela worked with the Council first as our Manager then combined the roles of Manager for CCJC and the Project Manager of the CoSA National Demonstration Project. She developed a rapport with many of you in her work on justice issues and capably represented the Church Council in many settings with grace and intuition. The well wishes noted here are from her many friends and colleagues in the criminal justice field.
Please add your comments to this board and we will post online for Maristela to be able to receive virtual well wishes from us all! Thank you for participating!
Janet Handy,
Executive Director
The Church Council on Justice and Corrections
Thank you Maristela for warmly including me in my first year here as the Executive Director at the Council. You made the transition easy and welcoming. I admire your thoughtfulness and humour and your ability to work with many people in many different situations. Best wishes to you and Fred! Jan H
Maristela is a beautiful, authentic individual. Meeting her in QC, when she invited me to share a Sawbonna/The Other Inmate talk/workshop, was wonderful. I felt safe, respected, and supported. There was lots of laughter too. And I send my gratitude and good wishes to her. Please relay my message, Jan and Schuyler.
Sawbonna,
Margot/RavenSpeak
Bonne chance à Maristela.

Dear Maristella, Although we have not worked together, I appreciate all the energy and effort that has gone into keeping CCJC together and working in these times that have difficulties in doing the work of the project.
My thanks for keeping CCJC going forward and welcoming new people and change.
Every best wish in future. Edith Shore
Thank you Maristela for your dedication and your large contribution to The Church Council on Justice and Corrections.
Maristela – I am a new member to the CCJC board as of September 2012 so have not had the honour of meeting you nor working with you. I have heard people speak glowingly of you & I know you will be missed. Perhaps we will meet sometime!
Take care. God bless!
Sharon
I appreciated that Maristela travelled to Montreal to train me as site bookkeeper. Since then we at MSCM-CoSA have kept her busy with our questions. We thank her for her constant support and know that she will do well at whatever she undertakes.
Maristela,
I wanted to take this opportunity to thank you for making my moments here at CCJC with you teachable moments, even in the crazy busy times! I wish nothing but good things for you in the future!
Cheers!
Ann
Maristela,
I was very sad when I learned that you are not returning to Ottawa and to the CCJC. You contributed so much to the organization and to the lives of those of us who worked with you. I was a member of the team that hired you: one of my best decisions ever.
Know that you are missed. I think of you and hope that you are well. I’m sure that you will do well whatever you undertake.
Cheers,
Richard

Hi, Maristela,
We were surprised and yet, not surprised when we learned of your decision to stay in Brazil! We will miss you but are excited about the new opportunities that you will have there!
Thank you so much for all of your help over the years, with the Collaborative Justice Program! We certainly appreciated your support, your intelligence, your candour and your good humour!
Be well and happy, (and Fred too!)

Hi Maristela:
We first met in Calgary at a CoSA gathering when a lot of seed was sown that grew to the huge demonstration project. Not too many know the incredible work and the huge patience that was needed to keep things rolling.
Thank you so much for you work with this, your personal zeal and enthusiam and will ask for blessings upon you in your future work.
Peace and Blessings,
Fr. Ted Hughes, Regional Chaplain, CSC Ontario

Hi Maristela,
Thank you for ‘launching’ us on this 5 year odyssey! I’m sure none of us can say that we remotely resemble where we were when we began this journey in 2009!! You were integral in laying the foundation for us and I’m sure it wasn’t always easy for you – gripes from the sites about too much work, budgets not balanching, challenges with the CoSAMT and NCPC, just to name a few. So thanks for your leadership and patience!
I wish you all the VERY best in your endeavours and, be assured, I will keep in touch!!! Although you’re no longer a colleague, you’ll remain a friend.
Miss you lots!!
Susan
